Registration steps

1. 1Create a Shram Suvidha portal login for the establishment.
2. 2Complete the common registration form with establishment, ownership and branch details.
3. 3Attach the supporting documents and employee strength details.
4. 4Sign the application using a Class 3 DSC or e-Sign of an authorised signatory.
5. 5Receive the establishment code and PF registration certificate.
6. 6Register on the EPFO employer portal, add members and generate UANs.

Documents required for PF registration

• PAN of the establishment and of the proprietor, partners or directors
• Certificate of incorporation, partnership deed or registration certificate
• Address proof of the establishment and rent agreement or ownership proof
• Cancelled cheque or bank statement of the establishment account
• GST registration certificate, where applicable
• Identity and address proof of the authorised signatory with DSC
• List of employees with date of joining, wages and Aadhaar
• Date on which the establishment first employed 20 persons

After registration

• Seed KYC for every member so claims are not rejected later.
• File the first ECR for the correct month — coverage runs from the date the threshold was crossed, not the date of registration.
• Display the statutory abstract and maintain wage registers.

Frequently asked questions

How long does PF registration take?

A complete application with valid documents and a working DSC is usually processed within a few working days. Delays are almost always caused by mismatched names, addresses or an expired DSC.

Is a DSC needed for PF registration?

Yes — a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate or e-Sign of the authorised signatory is required.
