CLRA Licence for Contractors

The licence authorises a contractor to engage a specified number of contract workmen at a specified establishment.

Licence conditions

  • Engage no more than the number of workmen stated on the licence.
  • Pay wages within the prescribed period and not below the notified minimum wage.
  • Provide the amenities required under the Act where applicable.
  • Maintain registers and records and file the prescribed returns.
  • Comply with PF and ESI obligations for the deployed workers.

Renewal and amendment

  • Apply for renewal before expiry — late renewal costs more and can interrupt work.
  • Amend the licence before increasing the number of workmen.
  • A new Form V is required for each new establishment or work order.
