Tamil Nadu professional tax is administered by municipalities and follows a half-yearly cycle. Chennai employers must remit through the Greater Chennai Corporation portal.
Slabs
Six slabs from ₹0 to ₹1,250 per half-year based on average half-yearly income.
Due dates
Remit by 30 September and 31 March each year.
Penalty
Up to 2% per month on default plus a one-time penalty up to ₹5,000.
